Gokomere attains 94.8% pass rate

MASVINGO-Academic powerhouse, the Roman Catholic Church run Gokomere High has once again scored high in the 2023 ZIMSEC A Level examinations where 94.8% of its learners passed with attaining 19 points.

Gokomere had96 students who sat for the 2023 ZIMSEC examinations with 52 male and 44 female students and two of them came out tops with 19 points.

Prosper Tafadzwa Tlou sat for Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Crop Science and Tinotenda Magiga, a female student sat for Computer Science, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics and both obtained 19 points.

The school had 14 students who scored straight 15 points and 10 students got 14 points after sitting for three subjects.

Gokomere acting head Cephas Vhurumuku told The Midweek Watch that as a school they are pleased by the excellent results and thank the students, staff members and parents for working together in order to come out with the splendid results.

“As the school we are very happy with the outcome of the results because students and teachers worked very hard last year and for the parents we are very grateful for their contribution to the school and by doing so it makes the school to prosper in every way”, said Vhurumuku.

In 2022 Gokomere had 28 candidates with 15 points and had a 97,2% pass rate with 107 candidates sitting for the exams. However, the school was in the top 10 overally in the Province.
