Alpha Cottage Children’s Home which provides a safe haven for 36 orphaned and vulnerable children, offering care, security, and developmental support, hence hosting a fundraising event on November 8 at Civic Centre Doug Hill Hall at 2pm for rebuilding of a perimeter wall.
The dedicated team, led by Caretaker Superintendent Chishamiso Lidia Mhizha, strives to empower these young minds to grow into resilient and capable individuals.
“Recently, the Children’s Home has faced pressing challenges, including a damaged perimeter wall, compromising the safety and security of the premises, stray animals have destroyed the garden produce, impacting food security and jeopardizing the children’s well-being,” Mhizha stated in the invitation letter.
According to the fundraising invitation message, to address these critical needs, Alpha Cottage Children’s Home has launched the “YES WE CAN” fundraising campaign, focusing on four key projects of repairing the Perimeter Wall to restore safety and security, solarisation to provide reliable and sustainable energy.
In addition revitalizing the Garden Project with drip irrigation for sustainable food production and expanding the Poultry Project for nutrition, self-sufficiency, and income generation.
She went on to say, “This collaborative effort aims to ensure a sustainable future for the 36 children, comprising 16 girls and 20 boys, who call Alpha Cottage home.”
Recently, on August 8 POTRAZ generously donated groceries, allowing the Children’s Home to redirect funds to other essential needs.
