In the small town of Chipinge, on eastern side of Zimbabwe, a musical legacy was born. Calton Takura Bapata, aka Golden Walker, grew up surrounded by the rhythms of his family’s past and has become a force to reckon with in the music circles.
His father once owned a band, and his grandfather was a musician too, it was only natural that Golden Walker would follow in their footsteps.
What started as a joke during his O’ level days in 2020 soon became a reality. After a brief hiatus, Golden Walker returned to music in Lower 6, teaming up with producer Tinashe Mazuru (Zoombeatz).
The result was a string of hits, including “THE GOONS ARE BACK” and “MUKURU WANCU,” which took the small farming town by storm putting him on a path to stardom.
As he navigated his A level studies, Golden Walker dropped an artistic EP, “SON OF THE CROWN,” but it was his dedication to his studies that took center stage resulting in him taking a break in producing music.
After completing his A’ Level exams, he released another banger, “GAZA,” which got the streets talking.

In 2023, Golden Walker co-founded ELATE SOCIETY, a music and fashion brand, with friends Tapiwa Gwaze, Tawanda Chingware, and Ronald Mwedziwandira. Despite financial challenges, they produced heavenly projects like “AMAI VARHONA.”
Golden Walker’s journey has been marked by perseverance and creativity. With a supportive family and a circle of friends who share his vision, he’s pushing Chipinge Hip Hop to new heights.
Collaborating with talented cinematographers like Munashe Sean Muyambo (Seanpixels), Kudakwashe (KDFG), and YungDaidz, Golden Walker’s visuals are making waves on YouTube.
With upcoming projects like “USAMIRE” and a dream to become a successful artist, producer, and video director in the next five years, Golden Walker’s star is rising.
His story is a testament to the power of passion, hard work, and community support.
The future of Chipinge Hip Hop has never looked brighter.
