Forex dealer robbed US$7k at gunpoint

GWERU- Crowson Tangawarima, a money changer based in Gweru lost US$7 400 to four armed robbers as he was leaving his CBD apartment at 4:30am on Wednesday last week.

Midlands Provincial Police Spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident to The Midweek Watch.

“We are appealing to members of the public to assist with information that may lead to the arrest of the four suspects.

“We also implore upon the public that when carrying large sums of money, they should put in place water tight security measures. Those who wish to do forex trading business should get business registered and follow due process to safeguard their cash,” he added.

Circumstances are that Tangawarima was carrying a bag containing cash US$7 400 intending to get into Gweru CBD where he wanted to do a transaction with someone who was going to Harare.

Just outside the apartment, Tangawarima was accosted by four unknown men, who were wielding a shotgun and a pistol.

One of the men snatched the bag with cash and they ran away, disappearing into the darkness leaving the complainant helpless.

Tangawarima reported the matter to the Police and investigation are underway.
