MASVINGO – The Zimbabwe Republic Police has released statistics of festive season road traffic accident recorded from the 15th of December 2023 to 8 January, 2024.
During the period under review there were 2 228 road traffic accidents compared to 2 689 in 2022-23.
There were 98 fatal accidents compared to 118 in the corresponding period.
A total of 138 people lost their lives with 786 being injured in those accidents compared to 170 deaths and 509 injuries in 2022.
The ZRP continues to urge motorists to be cautious on the roads and not cross flooded rivers and bridges to curb drowning incidences.
