FC Wangu Mazodze extend begging bowl to Council

MASVINGO-In a move that has shocked the football fraternity, flamboyant FC Wangu Mazodze aka Zhalala Zhululu has extended a begging bowl to Masvingo City fathers for US$3 250 affiliation fee to ZIFA Eastern Region Soccer League.

The money is for the 2024 soccer season.

Masvingo City Town Clerk, Eng Edward Mukaratirwa told a full council meeting last Monday that FC Wangu Mazodze wrote a letter requesting for the funds towards payment of affiliation fee to the ERSL.

Mukaratirwa revealed that the request was turned down because the club is privately owned, but however pointed that the team will continue to  use Mucheke Stadium for training purposes freely.

“Consideration was given to the report of the Director of Housing and Social Services on the application by Wangu Mazodze Football Club for free use of Mucheke Stadium for training session during the 2024 season as well as financial assistance for payment of affiliation fees.

 “The request for assistance towards payment of affiliation fees was turned down. Council however, granted free use of Mucheke Stadium once a week for training purposes,” reads the minutes in possession of The Midweek Watch.
