Environmental Management Agency (EMA) Manicaland provincial manager, Kingstone Chitotombe who was arrested yesterday by Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) has today been granted US$100 bail by Mutare Magistrate Tafadzwa Mhlanga.

Chitotombe (43) appeared in court facing charges of criminal abuse of office. He was represented by Innocent Mandikate of Mugadza/Chinzamba Law firm and was not asked to plead.

“On the 3rd of July 2024 and at Environmental Management Agency offices in Mutare, Chitotombe unlawfully and intentionally granted permission to Maxwell Makoni to use land opposite plot 77 in Irene township.

“The permission was for Makoni to practice bee keeping while knowing very well that the place was a private land owned by Ferro Consulting of Zimbabwe and that EMA does not have power to regulate beekeeping,” Tinotenda Muzondo who stood in for the state told the court.

In granting bail to the accused, Mhlanga ordered that he continue residing at his given address, that he should not interfere with State witnesses and that he returns to court on 25th March 2024 for trial.
