CHIREDZI- A ZRP officer, Underson Chasaizi (36) of 1224 Mugadza Street Chiredzi yesterday appeared before Chiredzi Provincial Magistrate, Diana Masiiwa facing 3 counts of stealing cigarettes from OK Supermarket.
The court heard that on 11 March 2024 Chasaizi allegedly took a box of 20 Luck Strikes cigarettes on 22 March 2024 at 10.07hrs from the supermarket chain without paying for it.
Circumstances are that Chasaizi allegedly took some tissues and went over to the cigarettes shelf and took a box 20 Luck Strikes, hid it under the tissues, went aside and pressed the cigarettes into his pockets and went out.
Again, for the third time, Chasaiza on the 24th of April allegedly used the same modus operandi to steal cigarettes from the same supermarket.
On the 28 April, he took a loaf of bread and one box of cigarettes, went to the till, while in the queue he allegedly pocketed the cigarettes and went on to pay for the bread only unfortunately his card was not working so he left the bread and went out.
His luck ran out as OK CCTV operator, Mandipa Mupangani saw it and ordered the security to arrest him.
OK Chiredzi manager, Progress Tadirika filed a police report leading to Chasaiza’s arrest.
He was remanded in custody to 2 May.
