KADOMA-Real estate developer and construction firm Craft Properties Holdings is nearing completion of two three-roomed model homes for people with disabilities and people living with albinism at its flagship Holyland high-density suburb in Kadoma.

The project follows the company’s donation of 15 residential stands to vulnerable groups in Kadoma, with 10 stands allocated to people with disabilities and five to people living with albinism.
The stands were officially handed over on November 27, 2025 at an event officiated by the Minister of State for Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Marian Chombo.
Chombo challenged private companies, local businesses, civic organisations and other stakeholders to partner with Craft Properties in constructing homes for the beneficiaries.
With no external partners having come forward so far, Craft Properties has taken the initiative to finance and construct the first two model homes which have reached the roofing stage within eight months.
Sanyati District Development Coordinator Amigo Mhlanga commended Craft Properties co-founder and chief executive officer, Professor Kudakwashe Taruberekera, for the pace at which the project is being implemented.
“I cannot thank Professor Taruberekera and his team enough; they have far exceeded expectations,” said Mhlanga.
He appealed to other stakeholders to assist with the construction of the remaining 13 homes.
“It is my wish that we do not overburden this single company. They donated the 15 residential stands, and it is heartening to see them now delivering modern homes with quality finishes,” he said.
Construction work on the two houses is progressing, with tiling, electrical wiring and plumbing being undertaken alongside roofing.
The homes include separate bathrooms and toilets, modern kitchen wall and floor tiling, wider doorways and adapted bathroom fittings designed to improve accessibility for people with disabilities.
Kadoma PWD Chairperson Moses Marufu described the development as a practical demonstration of Zimbabwe’s commitment to disability inclusion.
He said the project was in line with the National Disability Policy Expo 2026 theme, “Embracing Disability Inclusion in All Sectors; A National Masterstroke for National Prosperity and Development.”
“I could hardly believe my eyes when I saw the rooms being tiled. I expected basic structures, not homes with such high-quality finishes,” said Marufu.
“This brings great relief, and I hope the remaining 13 beneficiaries will receive similar support.”
The initiative is also aligned with the National Disability Policy which promotes inclusive development and seeks to prevent discrimination against people on the basis of disability and other social circumstances.
The project highlights the potential of public-private partnerships in expanding access to inclusive housing and supporting Zimbabwe’s broader development and housing objectives.
Craft Properties has maintained a community development programme throughout its 18-year history, with previous initiatives including the construction of classroom blocks, wheelchair donations in Kadoma and Masvingo, food assistance for elderly citizens during the COVID-19 pandemic, payment of school fees for vulnerable children and assistance with medical expenses for low-income families.
Taruberekera said the company’s latest intervention was driven by its desire to contribute to government programmes despite operating within its own resource limitations.
“We are pleased with the progress made so far. It is not that we have resources in abundance, but we are driven by a desire to share what we have in support of government programmes and President Mnangagwa’s vision of leaving no person and no place behind,” he said.
Taruberekera also disclosed that Craft Properties Holdings had been nominated by Titan Strategies International for Associate Partner–Forum Member status at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting for the 2027 cycle.
The nomination, made on July 24, 2026, recognises the company’s work in sustainable urban development and inclusive housing, as well as its alignment with international development initiatives.
“This nomination is a reflection of the work we have been doing to promote sustainable development and inclusive communities. We remain committed to creating lasting social impact while supporting both national and global development priorities,” he said.
