Chiredzi men fight over woman

Chiredzi- A 42-year-old man from Maramba Village in Chief Gudo’s area of Chiredzi is lucky to be alive after being shot with a catapult and attacked with a machete by a rival who accused him of having an affair with his wife.

Masvingo Provincial deputy police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Masauso Patinyu confirmed that Bhendo Masaiti was attacked on December 6, 2024, at around 18:30 hours while cycling from Mazembe Village to his home.
His assailant, who is still at large, allegedly confronted Masaiti over the affair, shot him with a catapult on the right shoulder, and then used a machete to attack him after he fell from his bicycle.
He said Masaiti managed to escape and reported the incident to the police before being rushed to St Peter’s Hospital in Checheche, Chipinge, where he is being treated for a deep laceration.
Police attended the scene but the accused had already fled. The police are now appealing to members of the public to come forward with any information that may lead to the arrest of the suspect.
“We urge anyone with information about the suspect’s whereabouts to contact the police immediately,” said the police spokesperson.
