CHIREDZI- Fungai Lawrence (29) who resides at house number 2434, Westwood, Chiredzi has been sentenced to 15 years in prison by Regional Magistrate, Judith Zuyu for raping a handcuffed minor.
It was the state case that on the 14th of January 2024 at around 2100hrs Lawrence drove near Chiredzi General Hospital, along Lion Drive and offered transport to a young girl aged (17) who was on her way to her mother’s place.
He locked the car and passed the girl’s destination and went straight to his house where he forced the girl to enter his room, locked the door and switched off the lights and lied that it was a power cut.
Lawrence fondled her breasts while trying to remove her skirt but faced resistance from the girl, that’s when he handcuffed her and pushed her on the bed and raped her. During the act she screamed, but Lawrence choked her.
He later on removed the handcuffs and ordered her to remove the remaining clothes and pushed her down and raped her again.
The girl told her mother Chipo Matonhodze about the incident and she immediately escorted her daughter to the ZRP police to file a report.
