Gwazira arrested by villagers after mbanje smoking
Morgen Gwazira (33) from Chief Mugabe area in Masvingo Rural who allegedly murdered his wife and burnt the corpse to ashes has been apprehended.
Sources told The Midweek Watch that Gwazira was arrested by villagers on Sunday night after he visited his brother in the same area for sadza and mbanje.
“Morgen visited his brother and asked for sadza from his brother’s wife, after eating the food he requested his brother to get him mbanje, they went out together and after smoking the mbanje he requested for another plate of sadza. The brother’s wife gave him another plate, while all that was happening the police were informed at around 6pm. At around 8pm villagers effected a citizen’s arrest after sensing that he may escape before the police arrive.
“The villagers combed the homestead armed with machetes, poles, catapults, and any weapon they could lay their hands on. He put up a violent fight before he was overpowered and tied up using a garden wire. The police arrived at 11pm and took him to their base,” said the source.
When contacted for a comment Masvingo Province police spokesperson said he was in the process of calling the area commanders for information.
