Bosso expose WiFi Boys defensive shortcomings
SPORTS REPORTER
MIDLANDS – The oldest club in the Castle Lager Premier League, Highlanders FC have laid bare the defensive shortcomings of TelOne FC TelOne FC aka WiFi Boys after they walloped them 2-0 in match played before their own fans.
The WiFi failed to score for the first since their return to top flight football this season as they went on to lose to Bosso.
Fans across the Midlands Province are happy with the way the WiFi Boys are playing.
The Gweru based team have scored in three of the four games they have played since their return to top flight football.
They scored two against ZPC Kariba, three against Manica Diamonds and one against Green Fuel.
However, in the first game they threw away a two goal lead to draw 2-2 in the second game they let in one against a depleted Manica Diamonds side and against Green Fuel they threw away a 1-0 lead with goalkeeper Matripples Muleya red carded in the game.
This defense’s indiscipline will prove costly in the future as they are still to meet the big sides in the league with the likes of FC Platinum who keep their defensive shape in tact when playing.
They have enjoyed a good start to the season with a win and two draws which takes them to five points out of a possible 9.
Thomas Moyo an ardent fan of the WiFi Boys said they play good football however, the rate at which they concede goals is worrying.
“They are playing good football as much as they are scoring goals they are conceding too which is bad for them and today the goalkeeper was red carded, the defense is an area to work on if they harbor any dreams of surviving relegation this season,” he said.
Melusi Phiri shared the same sentiments, highlighting that they have good players but if they keep conceding goals like that before playing the big guns it will be a disaster and come second round where teams will be playing for the kill they will be back in D1 if they don’t fix that in the early stages of the season.
