RUTENDO CHIRUME

MASVINGO- Masvingo Beef Producers Association (MBPA) chairperson, Robert Makadho (49) has been arrested for allegedly assaulting his employee to death for not tending his cattle.

Makadho resides at 15642 Runyararo West, Makuyana Street and owns a farm in Autorparks, Masvingo.

He allegedly assaulted his herd boy, Misheck Sinyoro from Tarambiwa Village, Chief Mukanganwi in Bikita on the eve of 18 January.

Sinyoro was however, found dead two days later after complaining of chest pains after being assaulted by Makhado.

Masvingo Provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa confirmed the case to The Midweek Watch and advised people to solve their differences without resorting to violence.

The circumstances are that on January 16 at around 3pm, Makhadho found Sinyoro and his co-worker Ericanos Regi (49) drinking  beer at a local bottle  store.

Makadho called his two employees and immediately grabbed Sinyoro by the neck and started to kick and beat him with clenched fists all over his body.

The accused started shouting at Regi whom he accused of dumping the cattle to come and drink beer.

He then went on to beat Regi before he was stopped by Takudzwa Tshuma who was having his beer at the same bottle store.

The two went home but on the way Sinyoro complained of chest pains.

They later went on to sleep but the deceased continued to complain that his whole body was sore.

On January 17 at around 5am the two woke up to do their routine chores, but Sinyoro had difficulty in walking and working.

They both agreed that Sinyoro should have some rest and will later go to Buka Clinic for medical attention.

Regi went on about his chores and came back around 2pm and noticed that Sinyoro was not at home.

Regi assumed that Sinyoro had gone to  the clinic.

On January 18 in the morning Regi went to the backyard where he intended to take a bath and that is when he discovered Sinyoro’s body lying on the ground.

He then called his boss, Makadho who came to the scene and instructed him not to report or tell anyone what had transpired.

However, Regi used his phone to report the case at Masvingo Rural Police Station.

The police attended the scene and found Sinyoro’s body lying upward and was wearing a black trouser and blue work suit jacket.

On inspection the police established that the body had bruises on left rib.

Near the deceased there was a bucket full of water, a towel and a piece of soap beside it.

The police arrested Makadho and Sinyoro’s body was taken to Masvingo Provincial Hospital for postmortem.
