MASVINGO-Masvingo North Constituency legislator Brian Mudhumi has pledged to provide all the cement required for the construction of a new school at Mutimurefu Primary School, while President Mnangagwa’s son, Sean, has provided roofing materials.
Mudhumi made the commitment during the ground breaking ceremony for the school project at Mutimurefu Prison, when he brought 100 bags of cement and would provide more as construction progresses.
He said cement the he had initially pledged towards the project had been used to mould bricks, prompting him to commit to supplying additional cement.
“I had initially pledged some cement, but the cement was used to mould the bricks. I have today brought 100 bags and I will bring more as the school takes shape,” Mudhumi said.
Mudhumi also said Sean Mnangagwa had provided all the roofing material required for the project.
He said the materials were ready for collection and assured the community that if there were any shortages, they would approach the ‘First Son’ for additional support.
“His Excellency, the President, has provided all the roofing material that is required. If there is a shortfall, we will alert the First Son, who is ready to give more as required,” Mudhumi said.
He also pledged to purchase at least 6 000 bricks towards the construction of the school.

The school is the first project of its kind at Mutimurefu and is being built from scratch. Children from surrounding communities currently travel 23km to schools in town or 5km to the nearest education facility.
Mudhumi said he would continue supporting the project as construction progresses, adding that the objective was to ensure the school was completed and able to serve children in the surrounding communities.
The project is being supported through contributions from various stakeholders, with further resources expected to be mobilised as construction progresses.
