ZAKA – Police in Zaka are hunting for a 52-year-old man who allegedly left his own brother for dead in a machete attack stemming from a family dispute.
The incident occurred on August 10 around 4 PM in Marombedze village under Chief Nhema.
According to police details, Brighton Chisenga (52) was reportedly walking back from local shops when he was confronted by his brother, Obvious Chisenga.
Masvingo Provincial Police spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dehwa confirmed the case and said the suspect produced a machete from his trousers and struck Brighton on the head.
“When the complainant fell, the accused continued assaulting him on the left hand and chest before fleeing the scene,” he said.
Brighton was rushed to Mashoko Mission Hospital where he is receiving treatment for severe head, hand and chest injuries. His condition is said to be critical but stable.
Inspector Dehwa said police have opened an attempted murder docket and investigations are underway to locate Obvious Chisenga.
“We are appealing to anyone with information on the whereabouts of the suspect to report to the nearest police station,” he said.
He urged members of the public to solve disputes peacefully and avoid violence as this may result in loss of lives.
