ZVISHAVANE-A three-year-old boy was killed and a 17-year-old girl injured after a Toyota Funcargo veered off the road and crashed into a residential gate in Makwasha high-density suburb on Monday, police said.
The accident occurred at about 10.15am along an unnamed road near House Number 2695 Lot 2, where the two victims were seated in the yard.
Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko identified the deceased as Siyabonga Shava.
He said the vehicle was being driven by Rodin Chiramba, 31, of Makwasha, Zvishavane.
“The motor vehicle veered off the road and hit a gate of a private residence, killing a three-year-old boy and injuring a 17-year-old girl who were seated in the yard,” Mahoko said.
Police urged motorists to exercise caution, avoid speeding and comply with road traffic regulations to prevent crashes.
The injured girl was taken to hospital for treatment, while police are investigating the accident.
