MIDWEEK REPORTER
MASVINGO-Bishop Jeremiah Matenhese who was Tanda Tavaruva aka Mhunga estate executor has died.
A family member who spoke to The Midweek Watch on condition of anonymity confirmed the death and said they are making burial arrangements and will provide more details later.
He said Bishop Matenhese succumbed to high blood pressure while admitted at a hospital in Harare yesterday, on Saturday.
A notice sent to estate administrators and the legal fraternity which is in our possession also confirmed the sad news.
“Subject: Notice of Passing – Bishop Jeremiah Matenhese.
Dear Estate Administrators and Insolvency Practitioners,
It is with deep sorrow that we inform you of the passing of Bishop Jeremiah Matenhese this afternoon, 1 August 2026.
Funeral arrangements will be availed in due course.
Thank you,” reads the notice.
Bishop Matenhese was involved in a bitter legal wrangle with the Tavaruva family over the distribution of their father’s estate and the case was supposed to be heard last Monday at Masvingo Magistrate Courts, but due to his health condition the matter was postponed to a later date.
