MVURWI-Two rising female boxers, Gracious Muhlahlubi and Caitlin Chipoperwa, are set to represent Zimbabwe at the Esther’s Nest Sports Promotion “All Ladies Fight Night” scheduled for April 24 in Lusaka, Zambia.

The professional non-title boxing tournament will take place at Scream Club in Lusaka and is expected to showcase top female talent from across the region.
The duo, who are now based in Mashonaland Central, originally hail from Chiredzi District, will compete under RoyGri Boxing Promotions and are expected to leave the country tomorrow ahead of the bouts.
Muhlahlubi is a former student of Great Zimbabwe University, adding a notable academic background to her growing boxing career.
Speaking to The Midweek Watch, Royc Archibald, the manager and founder of RoyGri Boxing Promotions, said the participation of the two boxers goes beyond sport, highlighting a broader social mission.

“Our aim is not just boxing but to fight against drug abuse, early marriages and gender-based violence while empowering young women to pursue their dreams,” said Archibald.
The duo will proudly represent Zimbabwe on an international stage, marking a significant milestone in their boxing careers.
RoyGri Recreation Community Club, founded in 2019 in Mvurwi by Archibald, has been instrumental in nurturing young talent from grassroots to professional level. Archibald, who also serves as a provincial coach and chairperson within the Zimbabwe Boxing Federation structures in Mashonaland Central said the club focuses on long-term athlete development.
“Our vision is to develop boxers from amateur to professional level, ensuring they can sustain themselves through the sport as a business,” he said.
Beyond boxing, the club has also introduced empowerment initiatives such as a welding project in partnership with Lighthouse College of Technology. The initiative equips athletes with practical skills and certifications, providing alternative career paths for those who may not succeed in boxing.
“We have even produced most of our gym equipment through this welding project,” Archibald added.
He also acknowledged the support from various stakeholders including the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Mashonaland Central, Christopher Magomo as well as Mvurwi Town Council, which provided training facilities for the club.
Archibald further highlighted the role of Dr Nyakudya and Professor Nyakudya of Lighthouse College of Technology, who continue to support RoyGri Boxing Promotions at a professional level.
The upcoming tournament is expected to not only test the athletes’ skills but also amplify the message of empowerment and social transformation through sport.
