MASVINGO-Christian Care, in collaboration with Magnificent International Arts (MIA), successfully hosted a Detergent Making Workshop and Youth Meeting in Masvingo, bringing together youths from various churches under the Zimbabwe Council of Churches.
The workshop was attended by young people from the Reformed Church in Zimbabwe, Lutheran Church, Methodist Church, and the United Church of Christ in Zimbabwe (UCCZ), demonstrating strong unity and commitment among churches in empowering youth.
During the workshop, participants were equipped with practical skills and learned how to make Vaseline and Bleach (Domestos), providing them with knowledge that can be used for both household use and income generation.
The main purpose of the workshop was to equip young people with practical life skills, promote self-reliance through income-generating projects, and strengthen youth participation in church and community development. In addition, the meeting aimed to establish a functional district structure that will coordinate youth programmes effectively.
Speaking at the event, Christian Care Masvingo Regional Chairperson, Mr. Tawanda Mudzimba, expressed his appreciation for the participation and encouraged young people to take advantage of such initiatives.
“This programme is meant to empower our youth with practical skills that can transform their lives. We want to see young people becoming self-reliant and active in building their communities,” he said.
Also addressing the gathering, Magnificent International Arts (MIA) Regional Chairperson, Daisy Razidane, emphasized the importance of partnerships in youth development.
“Working together allows us to reach more young people and provide opportunities that nurture talent, creativity, and economic empowerment,” she noted.
The highlight of the meeting was the appointment of the Masvingo Urban Christian Care Youth Committee, which will spearhead youth activities at district level.
Newly elected Chairperson, Volyn Denga, expressed gratitude for the trust placed in the team.
“We are committed to serving the youth with dedication, promoting unity among churches, and ensuring that these programmes benefit many young people,” he said.
Vice Chairperson, Ilet Hove, also shared a message of commitment:
“Our focus is to ensure that every church is involved and that youth are empowered through skills, mentorship, and spiritual growth.”
