Gweru-A unique, innovative manner to spring off this year’s premier international business exhibition, the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) is a 10 Miler Cycling Classic as the precursor on Sunday.
ZITF is slated for Monday April 20 to 25 at the ceremonial home of exhibitions, Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre, run by ZITF Company.
ZITF Company in partnership with Flying Eagles are organizing and unleashing an exciting 100 Miler cycling tour from Gweru to Bulawayo.
“ZITF in partnership with Flying Eagles Cycling Club will set the tone for ZITF 2026 with the hosting of the 100 Miler Classic Cycling Challenge. This is a dynamic event that brings together endurance, passion, and community engagement.
The race will see cyclists traverse the route from Gweru to Bulawayo, transforming the journey into a celebration of sport, discipline, and connection.”
Organizers have outlined the race times and distances in respective terms.
“The 100 mile race will commence at 6:30am from Fairmile Hotel in Gweru, while the 50-mile and 25-mile races will begin from Insiza and Mbembesi respectively.
All participants will converge at the finish line at Khumalo Hockey Stadium in Bulawayo,
with a cut-off time set for 1300 hours.”
ZITF marketing and corporate communications manager, Thandolwenkosi Nkomo, expressed enthusiasm about the initiative, stating:
“We are excited to be raising the ZITF 2026 curtain with a cycling extravaganza that
embodies the spirit of excellence, connections and energy that transcends ZITF 2026.”
Adding: “This event is an opportunity for sports fans, exhibitors, locals and international visitors
to kick off the show with a challenge that allows them to compete in a cordial
atmosphere while enjoying the beauty of the Zimbabwean landscape.
Flying Eagles Cycling Classic co-ordinator Anton Bhana is an excited mind.
“I am extremely excited about the 100 Miler. We have over 150 cyclists registered across the various categories from all over the country. As we prepare the race packs, you can feel the excitement and anticipation growing within the cycling community. The Flying
Eagles team is working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure this will be the most memorable 100 Miler yet. What we’re building is special. It’s about pushing your limits and achieving your goals. From novice to elite, watching every cyclist cross the finish line is the most rewarding part of the race. We can’t wait.” Emphasizing: “Beyond competition, the event reflects the broader vision of ZITF as a platform that
promotes connection, resilience, and progress. The cycling challenge symbolises the momentum that drives industries forward, mirroring the determination and innovation that define the business landscape.”
Participants are reminded that safety remains a priority, with strict adherence to the rule.
