NEMAMWA-The sprawling Nemamwa Growth Point came alive with the rich aromas of tradition, culture, and culinary excellence as women from across the urban set up gathered at the Masvingo Rural District Council Chalets for a vibrant gastronomy competition.

Prominent Masvingo events organiser, Rudo Shoko of Lulu Events was one of the guests that graced the occasion.

The event, a celebration of heritage cuisine and community talent, showcased not only the diversity of local dishes but also the growing role of women in tourism and cultural preservation.

Fourteen women took part in the competition, each bringing their unique flair to the table, under the auspices of Zimbabwe Tourism Authority. From traditional staples to creatively reimagined local dishes, the chalets were transformed into a hub of flavour, innovation, and storytelling through food. The competition was not just about cooking it was about identity, pride, and the preservation of Zimbabwe’s rich culinary heritage.

Women from different parts of the district displayed exceptional skill, using locally sourced ingredients to create dishes that reflected both tradition and modern influence. The atmosphere was filled with excitement as judges moved from one station to another, tasting, observing presentation, and engaging participants on the cultural significance of their meals.
