CHIKOMBA—President ED Mnangagwa is set to commission Chivhu Dam tomorrow, 15 June 2023 where thousands of people are expected to attend the event.
The completion of the dam will ease water challenges which have bedeviled the transit town for a long time.
The official commissioning follows the installation of a water treatment plant and pipeline by the Zimbabwe National Water Authority (ZINWA) recently for Chivhu Town.
The dam will also result in the implementation of a 120-hectare irrigation scheme nearby which will benefit hundreds of locals. There are also prospects of fish farming and other recreational activities on a dam which has a capacity of 26 million cubic metres.
