On April 5, 2025, police in Bulawayo apprehended Blessed Mpofu (29) in connection with the murder of his wife, Shylet Siyabonga (21), at a house near Insukamini, ZETDC sub-station.
The incident was confirmed by ZRP National Spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi.
The victim was found with multiple head injuries, prompting an investigation. Initially, Mpofu claimed his wife was attacked by unknown robbers near Emgwanwini Shopping Centre. However, police discovered a blood-stained rake and broom at the scene, linking Mpofu to the crime.
The police investigation revealed inconsistencies in Mpofu’s alibi, leading to his arrest.
