4 armed robbers nabbed in high speed chase

MUTARE-Four notorious armed robbers were arrested after they were involved in an accident during a high speed movie style chase with Greenside-Palmerstone neighborhood watch team.

The four, Tafadzwa Manyengavana(50), Brian Badza (34),Grievance Chipande and another identified as Tonderai were arrested on February 26.

Manicaland Province police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka confirmed the movies style arrest.

On February 25 at around 2100 hours William Matizha (23) who had visited his friend in Fairbridge Park Extension was approached by the quartet who were traveling in a Silver Honda fit registration number AFV 4555.

The four snatched his bag and searched took his particulars and money and drove off.

It is said that,the following day the four accused at around 21:00 hours arrived at Calvin Munyu’s house number 8 Independence Close,Palmerstone  armed with machetes and a pellet gun with the intention to rob him.

Whilst inside the house, Munyu yelled for for help and his neighbors started hooting their cars to alert the others of the intruders.

The accused ran to their  getaway vehicle and drove off along Josiah Tongogara towards Grant’s one stop shop.The neighborhood chased them using their private vehicles.

Fortunately the robbers were involved in an accident at Corner Josiah Tongogara and Longmall Close were the driver veered off

the story and rammed into a tree

Mutare Central Police night patrol team were informed of the matter and quickly reacted and arrested three of the accused since one of them identified as Tonderai and fleed from the scene.

They sustained serious injuries and were escorted to Victoria Chitepo Hospital under police guard.

Grievance Chipande died upon admission at the Provincial hospital.
