BUHERA -Buhera District in Manicaland Province has recorded 32 new confirmed cholera cases and one death since August this year.
The information is contained in a report compiled by C. Chirivenda, environment health officer of the Ministry of Health and Child Care which is in our possession dated 25/09/23.
The report shows that since the outbreak in Agust cumulative cases are now 162.
One death was also recently recorded increasing the death toll to 13 since the outbreak in August 2023.
According to the latest Ministry of Health and Child Care situational report, whilst Murambinda is the epicenter of the transmission of the water borne diseases, Ndyarima, Mudanda, Chirozva, Masasa, Zangama and Munyanyi also have active cases of cholera.
“Investigation of the Cholera outbreak was initiated on the 28th August 2023 following the death of three people belonging to one household in Charuka Village in Ward 15, between 22 and 25 August and was rumoured to be suspected cholera deaths, ” read the report.
