Nkosimandhla Dube (2) was fatally crashed by a Toyota Dyna lorry while walking along a street in Kwekwe on new year’s eve.
The sad incident happened on 31 December 2023 at about 2000 hours and the lorry was being driven by Peter Dzama (29) of Amaveni Kwekwe.
Preliminary police investigations established that the child had sustained head injuries and died upon arrival at Amaveni Clinic in Kwekwe.
Midlands Provincial Police spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko is appealing to motorist to exercise caution on the roads.
“We appeal to motorists to exercise due care and diligence and not to overload their vehicles so as to save lives of the commuting public.
“The fact that the two year old boy was run-over by a motor vehicle walking alone at 2000 hours raises the need for improvement on the level of parental care and supervision of young children.” he added.
