MASVINGO-Parents at the Association of Trust Schools run Kyle College, 6km from Masvingo City, are up in arms against the authorities for not taking action against alleged bullies.
The Midweek Watch is reliably informed that seniors at the school are forcing juniors to perform their laundry as well as going to the extend of beating them if they refuse to comply.
Recently two junior learners, one of them from Beitbridge were allegedly hospitalized at The Royal Southern Medical Chambers after a thorough beating from the seniors at the school and no action was taken by the authorities.
When contacted for a comment, Masvingo District Schools Inspector, Ishmail Chigaba said he was not aware of the case but promised to investigate very soon.
“I am not aware of the bullying issues at the school, but a team will be dispatched to investigate, as long as the matter involves the welfare of pupils we will take action even it’s a private school,” said Chigaba.
The school head, Kudzai Sachida denied that there is bullying at the college.
“I have not received such reports even if there are such cases parents know where to report such cases and they don’t go to the press with grievances,” said Sachida.

It’s a shame that bullying is going on at Kyle College. The form 3 boys are actually giving the form 2s and 1s their dirty linen to wash for them under the guise of respecting your seniors and if the junior students refuse they get beaten up or are made to stay up studying until midnight. This, at an ATS sch cannot be accepted. This is happening right now. The boys prefects are said to be hitting the juniors for whatever small infringements they deem to have taken place at the hostels. This needs serious attention from the school teachers before 1 of us goes to take their child at the hospital which we have unfortunately witnessed from other schools.
We are paying a lot of money for our kids to be taught right from wrong not for them to be traumatized for no good reason at school.
I think the idea of a meeting with the school head even virtual may be a good 1 so that we also hear what he has to say for a more positive outcome for our kids and the college-parents posting in a whatsapp group.
Meanwhile, there are reports that a learner was impregnated by another and the matter was allegedly swept under the carpet and se has already given birth.
