MIDWEEK REPORTER
ZVISHAVANE – Zvishavane Town Council has commissioned two refuse compactors worth USD $276 000 in a bid to improve service delivery to the residents.
The Council Chairperson Takarangana Keta commissioned the trucks and in attendance were other councillors, employees and other invited guests.
Conplant was the supplier of the two refuse compactors and were bought using the Council’s own generated revenue.
The council had two refuse trucks prior to the two they have added now. This means that the collection days of refuse are going to increase especially in Hotspot areas such as Mandava.
The local authority has been previously condemned by residents for poor service delivery but they have responded by procuring two refuse compactors so as to improve litter collection.
Speaking to The Midweek Watch Keta said the council will be collecting refuse daily in town and industrial areas.
“The total cost for the two is 276 000
It was supplied by a company called Conplant
The funds used to buy the compactors were internally generated
Prior to this the Council had 2 compactors, they are now old and unreliable.
“The Council shall collect refuse daily in town and industries now and weekly in all residential areas, refuse collection shall be constant”, he said.
