Zvish Mayor rescues residents from Chinese lithium blasting

ZVISHAVANE- Zvishavane Town Council Chairperson Khulekani Ndlovu has taken a giant step towards the safety of residents in Ward 9 as he has succeeded in stopping a Chinese mining company from blasting lithium which causing serious pollution in the area.

 Residents in Zvishavane’s Hillview and Nil suburbs found themselves experience damaging noise pollution from loud and thunderous blasts reverberating from blasting carried out by the Chinese miners.

The unannounced blasts caught many residents off guard, sending shivers down their spines, as they feared for their safety and well-being.

Priscilla Mdakela a resident said,” we are now living in fear due to heavy blasting works going on at a nearby Chinese Lithium mine as the grounds are shaking leading to breaking of windows due to the blasting activities at the site.”

Residents expressed concern over the explosion and noise pollution emanating from the mining site.

Another bitter resident, Tinotenda Sithole said ” The   noise is too much and the earth movements might affect our walls ad window pens, we demand an immediate end to the mining activities,”.

  Councillor Ndlovu assured the community that immediate action had been taken, engaging with the responsible company to address the pressing issue.

” l am sorry about the damage caused, it will never happen again.

“I can assure you that the company will ensure that the blasting does not cause any damage to your houses again,” he said.

In a promising development, the company has agreed to adjust its operations, taking into account the well-being of the local residents, and ensuring that appropriate warnings are given before any future blasting activities.
