ZVISHAVANE- A 26 – year – old man from Zvishavane in the Midlands province will spend the next 35 years in the cooler after being convicted of raping two juveniles aged 7 and 8 in separate horrific incidents.
Elphas Mapfumo (26) appeared before Zvishavane Magistrate Sengster Tavengwa facing two rape counts.
According to court proceedings, on the first count, on July 23, 2025 , a 7 – year -old girl was walking home from school with other friends when Mapfumo approached the group.
He took hold of the victim’s hand, chased her friends away and dragged her to a spot besides the road where he laid her on the ground and raped her.
The victim later told her mother what had happened and the matter was reported to police.
On the second count, on September 19, 2025, Mapfumo found two juveniles who were seated under a tree on their way from school.
He chased away the other one before grabbing the victim by her neck and dragged her into a bushy area.
He forced her onto the ground, removed her clothing and raped her. The victim was later taken home by a passerby and she narrated her ordeal to her mother who reported the case to police.
