ZRP launches festive season safety campaign in Masvingo

MASVINGO-The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has launched a crime and road safety awareness campaign in Masvingo province, urging residents to prioritize their safety during the festive season.

The campaign, themed “Towards a Safe, Secure and Peaceful Festive Season”, was launched at Nyanda along Beitbridge road by Officer Commanding Police Masvingo Province, Commissioner Fredrick Mbengwa.

The initiative aims to reduce road accidents and crime, which tend to escalate during the holiday period.

Some of the delegates who graced the launch.

Commissioner Mbengwa emphasized the importance of road safety, urging drivers to exercise caution and follow traffic rules.

“We appeal to all road users to take responsibility for their safety and the safety of others, we will be conducting regular patrols and checkpoints to ensure compliance with traffic laws and regulations,” he said.

The event was attended by representatives from the Masvingo business community, including N. Richards, Thunderrun, Junior Holdings, CABS Bank, and the Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe. The stakeholders pledged their support for the campaign, highlighting the importance of collaboration in ensuring a safe and secure festive season.

The campaign will see police officers engaging with communities, conducting road safety awareness sessions, and enforcing traffic laws. Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activity or crime to the police.

The ZRP’s festive season safety campaign is part of a broader effort to promote a culture of safety and responsibility among road users.
