MUTARE-The Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (ZimStat) in partnership with United Nations stakeholders have started designing a questionnaire that will be used during the demographic health survey to be carried out later this year.
ZimStat public relations manager, Roland Chiringa confirmed this to The Midweek Watch on the sidelines of the March 1 to 7 workshop at Holiday Inn Hotel in Mutare meant to design the questionnaire that will be used during the ZDH survey set to start after the harmonised elections.
“We are here with our partners from the United Nations designing the questionnaire that will be used by our ennumerators as they carry out the Zimbabwe Demographic Health survey during the later part of the year.
“The ZDH survey is carried out every five years and the last one was done in 2015, but the 2020 one could not be held due to the COVID-19 preventative measures that were in place and was postponed to this year,” said Chiringa.
He also said this is the 8th ZDH survey since the country gained Independence in 1980 with the first one having been carried out in 1982.
Chiringa also highlighted that in the 2015 survey it was found out that those between the ages of 15 to 49 living in the urban areas were engaging in casual sex as witnessed by the HIV prevalence rate compared to those in the rural areas.
It was also found out that young people were engaging in early sexual derbies exposing themselves to HIV and this survey is also meant to find out the impact of the measures put in place in mitigating the situation among other things.
