MASVINGO- The Zimbabwe School Examination Council (ZIMSEC) has announced the June and November 2025 Ordinary and Advanced Level examination fees and due dates.
The announcement was issued in a circular to schools on Tuesday ZIMSEC finance director Zipora Muzenda.
In the notice, the country’s examination board confirmed that government will subsidise 55% of the examination fees for both levels only for candidates attending public schools.
Candidates from private schools as well as private candidates in public schools don’t qualify for the subsidy.
“The 2025 full cost of the examinations for Ordinary and Advanced level will be USD 24.00 and USD 48.00 per subject respectively. Therefore, candidates in public schools will pay 45% of the examination fees per subject and Government will pay 55% of the examination fees per subject,” further reads the notice.
O-Level fees per subject at public schools (Formal): US$11.00, private schools: US$24.00 and extra-territorial candidates: US$56.00
A-Level exam fees per subeject for public schools is (Formal): US$22.00, : US$48.00 and etra-territorial candidates will fork out US$98.00
The government subsidy will apply only for a maximum of seven O Level subjects and four A Level subjects.
Although fees are set in USD they are payable in other basket currencies that include ZwG, Rand and Pula.
Candidates who wish to pay in ZwG for the June examinations can make payments from March 10 to March 14, 2025 while the final registration date for the June 2025 examinations has been set for 14 March, 2025.
For parents and guardians wishing to pay the exam fees in ZwG for the November 2025 exams, payments can be made from March 24 to March 28, 2025, with the closing date being March 28, 2025.
Speaking to this publication ,Mavis Zingoni, a guardian of a Child at Mutendi High School said the subsidy has lessened financial burden on parents.
“The subsidy has reduced the financial burden on families and I would like to thank the government for ensuring that education becomes affordable,” she said.
