A) Introduction
Zanu PF’s Mnangagwa is on a catch 22 political situation. The political atomic bomb is exploding anytime in Zanu PF. Its effects are twofold… positive and negative. “Tiri veAction muchanakigwa Mirai muone action chete” The action is uncontrollable by any of Zanu PF faction but is on an autopilot.
B) Historical Evidence
Since 1963 when Zanu PF was formed it is a fact that there has never been peaceful power transfer.
Rev Ndabaningi Sithole the founder of Zanu was toppled in a bloodless coup. The armed wing of Zanla was bombarded with propaganda and declared Rev Ndabaningi Sithole a sellout. Rev Sithole had gone to USA for a family affair but he had behind door private meeting with revolution funders of the liberation struggle from his church. Rev Ndabaningi Sithole could not come back to Mozambique as his office was already occupied following a coup. The Zanu power transfer through the barrel of the gun…a bloodless coup handed Robert Mugabe power.
Mugabe himself a coup product having been more than 50 years in power was unceremoniously removed by his political student..Emerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa. Mnangagwa was Personal Assistant to Mugabe during the liberation struggle and longest serving Minister in Mugabe era staged a bloodless coup against his teacher, mentor and political pastor.
C) Boom Situation
ZanuPF has never experienced peaceful, democratic modern and transparent power transfer. They are facing a congress in 2027 in which they must do a Zanu PF taboo.
The Zimbabwean New Constitution provision which had Presidential term limit is sacrificing Zanu PF to political rituals.
Mnangagwa tried to push the 2030 Agenda. This is an Agenda of fearing reality. An Agenda to try to avoid Zanu PF from facing its “umhandara hwamai”; the never experienced event, the taboo, the feared miracle, the unthinkable etc. This 2030 Agenda is slowly dying a natural death….this is because of the loud and clear opposition voices from various groups.
Mnangagwa is currently pushing Kudakwashe Tagwirei to succeed him. Chiwenga who believe that he is the rightful successor because of the coup role can’t give without a fight.
This gives a fierce congress fight between Mnangagwa preferred successor (Tagwirei)against his coup anointer (Chiwenga).
Those who think this war is minor are undermining the political rival stage set. The congress is a true Waterloo or the Sarajevo Moment for Zimbabwean political situation.
Mnangagwa is very aware that a political miscalculation will backfire. Chiwenga like a military man is making very precise military political calculation to grab power.
The 2027 congress present a very precious, delicate and political dangerous situation. Zanu PF has to cross the Waterloo: The Sarajevo Moment with election in 2028. This is the major reason why they are pushing for Agenda 2030. This is called ‘Political strategic delay game strategy”
For Zimbabweans, to save the economy, social services and moral integrity must stop the amendment of the constitution to give Zanu PF a breathing moment.
