ZAKA-A heated argument involving members of the Zion Christian Church (ZCC) Judea in Binduko Village under Chief Nyakunhuwa in Zaka turned bloody after one of them bludgeoned his church mate with a log and died on the spot.
The sad incident happened on October 25 at night, police told The Midweek Watch.
The deceased, Emmanuel Shangarai (23), and the accused, Sam Togara (33), both resided in the same village and were attending a church service when a misunderstanding reportedly ensued.
According to ZRP Masvingo Province deputy Spokesperson Assistant Inspector Masauso Patinyu, the two engaged in an argument during the service.
In a fit of rage, Togara allegedly picked up a wooden log and struck Shangarai once on the head.
Shangarai collapsed and died on the spot due to the severe head injuries sustained in the attack.
Police were alerted and the body of the deceased was ferried to Ndanga District Hospital, where it awaits a postmortem.
Togara was arrested and is currently assisting police with investigations.
Assistant Inspector Patinyu urged members of the public to resolve disputes peacefully.
