Zimbabwe Council of Churches in Masvingo Province (ZCC) has donated an assortment of school stationery to Alpha Cottages Children’s Home.

The donation was made May 8, 2025 where the ZCC tem was led by Masvingo Province ZCC chairperson Major Edith Runesu of the Salvation Army while Alpha Cottages was represented by Superintendent Chishamiso Mhizha.
Mhizha expressed gratitude to the ZCC for remembering the children, saying, “We thank the ZCC for remembering the children so that they can learn like the rest of the children at school.”
The donated stationery included 13×3-quire books, 72×1-quire books, 36 graph books, 71×2-quire books, 156 khaki covers, 115 rulers, 121 plastic covers, 28 mathematical sets, 489 pencils, 174×72-page books, 232×32-page books, 6 calculators, 3 pairs of socks, 56 cello tapes, 24 crayons, and 470 pens.
Transport for the goods was provided by Evangeline Mahlahla of Baptist Church.
Chishamiso appealed for funds to boost their ongoing projects, such as to increase their poultry production from the current 125 per batch, build concrete fish ponds, implement drip irrigation, and refurbishment of the superintendent’s house.
Alpha Cottages accommodates 39 children, with 19 boys and 20 girls, including 3 persons with disabilities, The Mid-week Watch has learnt.
Major Runesu took some time to bless the children with the word of God.
The ZCC, launched in 1969, presently consists of 28 churches and this is the third time it has shown love to the children at Alpha Cottages Children’s Home.
Alpha Cottages Children’s Home is a charitable organization that offers shelter, food, and education to orphans and vulnerable children.
Established in 1957 by Helen McGhie, it is situated in Masvingo City along Mutare Road.
