Zanu PF supporters bashed by CCC in Chivi

MIDWEEK REPORTER

CHIVI-As the country inches closer to the watershed harmonised elections, violence is rearing its ugly head between the main political parties, Zanu PF and CCC as they are on each other’s throats each day.

The latest case of violence happened at Gwitima Business Centre in Ward 18 on Saturday last week where CCC youths besieged Zanu PF supporters and beat them up resulting in one of them being unconscious.

Those who were assaulted reported the matter to the police under RRB 5357418 and they include the youth Chairman Takudzwa Chimwanda, Tungamirai Gondobwe, Hlupiko Mutori Wilson Runopamwa, Tamai Madzore, Tarven Madziro, Tinomuda Munyanyavira, Dereck Ruchava, Benjamin Mukashuri, L Mukashuri and Calvin Mapasure.

Zanu PF Chivi District Coordinating Committee vice chairman, Mekia Chamwadoro said they are saddened by the development as it left one of their cadres with serious head injuries and he lost consciousness for over 10minutes during the scuffle.

“We were told that the scuffle was instigated by CCC local authority candidate Runopamwa Chikwashira,” said Chamwadoro.

Efforts to get a comment form Chikwashira were fruitless as the number that was provided to The Midweek Watch was continuously not available.

Masvingo Province Zanu PF spokesperson, Pepukai Chiwewe said they don’t condone violence from anyone.

“We are completely against violence in any form and from anyo quarter as enunciated by President Dr E.D. Mnangagwa at all his rallies and gatherings.

“The major problem that we have from our friends from CCC is they instigate violence and rush to social media as victims yet they are the perpetrators of violence.

“Why is it that they never report to the Police rather they rush to social media,” said Chiwewe.
