…MP urged to be loyal to party as divisions threaten to tear apart revolutionary party

Gweru-Zanu PF First Secretary, President Emmerson Mnangagwa urged candidates to adhere to the party guidelines and regulations as they campaign for the August 23 general elections.
President Mnagagwa said this during the on going five day induction of candidates at the Zanu PF Conference Centre in Gweru which started on Monday which he officially opened.
Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the event, Zanu PF National Commissar, Dr Mike Bimha said the party implored new candidates to be loyal and tore the party line as they campaign to be members of parliament.
“Yes we have a number of new candidates who have come in and who are going into parliament this year. So today they were meeting with the President Cde E.D Mnangagwa and the party leadership as part of efforts to prepare them for the coming harmonised elections.
“They were told that the party came first and themselves later. So, it’s more about the party, the party comes first. It’s about dedication and discipline.
“We cannot win until we present disciplined members of the national assembly both to the party and to the leadership.” he added.
Chirumanzu Constituency incumbent as well as aspiring Member of Parliament, Barbra Rwodzi said it was important to tore the party line.
“It is important that today we are here as aspiring candidates, it’s important that we learn the ideology of the party according to the 1964’s party’s founding dictates,” she added.
Chiwundura aspiring MP, Silimani Kwidini said he was happy that the President echoed on the values of Zanu PF to its members.
“I am happy that the President Cde Mnangagwa managed to reflect on the value of the party when he said the party belongs to all people. No one is bigger than the party.
ZANU PF Gweru Urban Member of Parliament, Alex Mukwembi said most crucial was the deliberations on the projects which have been undertaken by the Second Republic.
“Of importance to note are the projects which the second republic have been doing and there is need to market these projects as we are selling the works of the President Cde ED Mnangagwa who has spearheaded developmental initiatives which have changed the country.
“We are going to move with that drive as we market the fruits of the Second Republic,” he added.
