Gutu District held a successful ZANU PF Cell Verification Day with the exercise being conducted smoothly across all 41 wards and 98 party districts.
The verification exercise which was held countrywide, saw party members from the highest offices led by the Party First Secretary and President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa reporting to their respective cell structures where they are registered.
Confirming the overwhelming response, ZANU PF District Coordinating Committee (DCC) Chairperson, Remigio Masara said supervisors deployed across all cells in the district reported a high turnout.
“The response from party members was very encouraging. All supervisors reported high attendance with members verifying their details and those not previously captured being registered,” said Masara.
He added that new registrants included members who had been omitted from previous records, returnees from defection camps, individuals crossing over from opposition parties as well as youths who recently turned 18 and are preparing to vote for the first time.
During the exercise, senior party officials temporarily set aside their ranks and operated under the leadership of their respective Cell Chairpersons, in line with party structures.
Each cell has a 21 member leadership structure drawn from the main wing, women’s league, and youth league, with ordinary members recorded from number 22 onwards.
A cell comprises a minimum of 50 members, with cells forming branches of at least 200 members while a minimum of three branches constitute a party district.
Gutu District currently has 1,319 cells and Masara noted that the verification exercise is expected to further consolidate party structures.
“The Cell Verification Day also helped us identify members who are not yet registered with ZEC, so that they can be assisted to register and fully participate in national processes,” he said.
