Zanu PF councillor hacking my social media accounts-Killer Zivhu

MASVINGO CITY-Firebrand politician and former Zanu PF Chivi South legislator, Killer Zivhu has distanced himself from social media posts circulating where he is allegedly denigrating Masvingo Province leadership.

Zivhu called for a press conference to set the record straight last Friday where he accused a councillor (name supplied) of hacking his social media accounts and posting things that are at variance with his party Zanu PF’s ideology and vision.

Some of the messages Zivhu says were posted on his hacked X account.

Recently Zanu PF WhatsApp groups were awash with posts purportedly from Zivhu where he says there is a crisis along Beitbridge Road and Lake Tugwi Mukosi.

“Urgent! Betbridge Road crisis: Ngundu-Rutenga stretch is now a ‘roadless zone! Contractors seem to have abandoned site, no signs of work. Travelers suffer 4 hour journeys for just 50km! Please intervene and save lives & time.

“Masvingo’s Lake Tugwi Mukosi lies idle while people suffer from drought! 20k families relocated to Chingwizi, majority still unemployed. Promises unfulfilled, graves submerged in water for nothing. Sorry to say, Masvingo leaders are clueless & (sic) and useless, reads one tweet that Zivhu distanced himself from although it purportedly originated from his X handle.

A WhatsApp group member went on to say Chadzamira and Mavhenyengwa made a grave mistake by allowing Zivhu back into the party as he is now taking advantage to denigrate them.

Zivhu told journalists that he is preoccupied with advancing Vision 2030 than fighting petty wars with people of shallow minds.

Killer Zivhu.

“I will not denigrate the party nor its leadership as I am a loyal son of the party.

“If I was like what this young and politically immature councillor want me to appear, I could have easily contested as an independent in 2023 and won when I had been expelled but I stood by the party and decided to support the party’s candidate and President Cde E. D. Mnangagwa as our sole presidential candidate.

“So many Zanu PF loyal cadres came to me in 2023 encouraging me to stand as an independent but I turned the offer down because I respected the decision of the Province and the Politiburo then.

“Now I am back after being fired on the basis of social media they want to push the same narrative so that I get fired for the second time.

“I respect the Provincial Minister, the party chairman and all those elected in Zanu PF structures, and I will never insult or mock them as they are my leaders, I am just a mere card-carrying member of the revolutionary party and for now I remain so,” said Zivhu who is also a philanthropist of note.

Zivhu added that instead of the young councillor spending time character assassinating him, it is better that they direct their energies and resources towards building the nation and helping the vulnerable especially those ravaged by Cyclone induced drought.

At the time of his expulsion in 2020 Zivhu was the secretary for finance in the province and was readmitted back into the ruling party in March this year.

He said, as of now he is not interested in any party position, but if the people nominate him he is willing to serve the only party he has known for his whole life.

Meanwhile, telecoms regulator, Post and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority on Thursday issued a stern warning to people who are hacking social media accounts and posting undesirable material and performing transactions using prominent people’s names and images.

In a statement POTRAZ said there has been a flurry in identity theft through social media accounts.

“It has come to the attention of POTRAZ that foreign registered subscriber numbers are used on WhatsApp displaying the profile pictures of known public figures being impersonated,” reads part of the statement.
