The controversial move has elicited angry protests from some Zanu-PF followers who have threatened to boycott voting in the harmonised elections due later this year. According to results from the primaries, Nyoni, a ZIPRA veteran, triumphed by 3,468 against Dube's 1,796. But according to the final list of candidates set to represent the ruling party in harmonised elections this year, Dube's name is the one showing instead of that of Nyoni. "We are tired of this game being played on us. We want our President to come in and have our chosen candidate in representing our party. "She is a veteran of our struggle hence we voted for her. Bulawayo24 “Mahere Convicted Of Breaking A Law That Doesn’t Exist” Journalist and filmmaker Hopewell Chin’ono said that Harare lawyer Fadzayi Mahere has been convicted of breaking a law that doesn’t exist. Mahere was on Wednesday, 05 April 2023, convicted of charges of publishing falsehoods prejudicial to the State by a Harare magistrate. Mahere, who is also the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) spokesperson, was found guilty by Harare Regional Magistrate Taurai Manuwere after a full trial. Posting on Twitter, Chin’ono said he was arrested the same week as Mahere and his lawyer Harrison Nkomo went to the High Court to challenge the charge. Following the revelations contained in the documentary titled, Gold Mafia, the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe’s Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) has frozen the assets of four individuals who are implicated in the scandal. They are United Kingdom based preacher Uebert Angel, Ewan Macmillan, Simon Rutland, and Kamlesh Pattni. The culprits nailed themselves when they were filmed by undercover Al Jazeera journalists boasting about their links to Zimbabwe’s ruling elite and their crafty abilities to move loads of gold and hard cash over borders without being detected. The freezing of assets coincided with a government order for the name-dropping individuals to be investigated for the crimes. Observers believe the RBZ’s move to freeze the culprits’ assets was an attempt to hoodwink the public into the false belief the Zanu PF led authority was acting on the shock scandal. However, in a bizarre irony to the saga, the central bank’s name has featured in the third instalment of the four-part documentary, putting authorities at a loss on how to react. The episode which aired on Thursday, names RBZ for providing gold export certificates to legitimise multi-million dollar gold and money laundering transactions. The investigative documentary revealed that the smuggled gold was being refined in Dubai to make it look new, despite the fact that gold refinement is also the mandate of Fidelity Printers, a central bank subsidiary. However, MDC-T leader Douglas Mwonzora and his party went to court seeking an order to compel President Emmerson Mnangagwa not to proclaim poll dates because of the controversy surrounding the delimitation report which was produced by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec). Seven of Zec’s nine commissioners distanced themselves from the report, which Mnangagwa gazetted on February 21 this year. The court ruled that Mwonzora’s case had merit, and will be heard by a full ConCourt bench of seven judges. He was given three days to file his challenge. Constitutional lawyer Lovemore Madhuku said Mwonzora’s application had serious implications on the proclamation of election dates. “People must not pretend that everything is OK, especially the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec),” Madhuku said.  “The court will decide whether or not the delimitation report can be used in the upcoming elections.
