SILOBELA-A 34-year-old man died from head injuries he suffered after he was pushed and fell on a generator by a coworker while playing.
The incident occurred on 12 August 2023 in Silobela at a mine in Village Nkala under Chief Malisa.
It is alleged that the now deceased Unity Maseko (34) and the suspect Mtabisi Ndebele (18) were at their work playing pushing each other.
Maseko lost balance and hit his head on a generator and sustained a head injury.
He was rushed to hospital around 3am the next morning after his condition deteriorated. He was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Police observed that the deceased had a swollen head. The suspect was arrested and investigations are underway.
Meanwhile, in an unrelated incident, Police in Kwekwe are also investigating a case of suspected murder which occurred near Ely Drive, Fitchlea, Kwekwe on 13 August 2023.
The informant in the matter, a male police officer was on his way to Kwekwe Central Business District along Amaveni Road when he discovered a dead body lying in a pool of blood on the ground.
Examinations during scene attendance resulted in the discovery of multiple deep cuts all over the body.
Marks suggesting a struggle were seen on the ground and a torn work suit jacket was picked about 50 meters away from the body.
The body of the deceased has since been identified as that of Brighton Moyo who had been last seen alive on the 12 August 2023, around 8pm at Televivo Nightclub, Amaveni, Kwekwe.
Midlands Provincial Police spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said investigations are still in progress.
“Investigations are still underway and no arrest has been made so far. As usual, we appeal for assistance from members of the public” he added.
