Women break barriers in army

­-2 graduate as best at logistics school

Mutare-Women in the army are holding their own as they are competing neck to neck with their male counterparts when recently two female officers came out tops at the School of Logistics in Mutare City.

 The Midweek Watch witnessed women leading the combined graduation of Ordnance Officers, Transport and Movement Operations and Workshop Commander’s Courses number 01 of 2024 with 43 students all drawn from the ZNA which was held at the School of Logistics located in Marymount on Friday 07 June.

The course, was a 16 weeks programme which started on 19 February to June 2024.

Women breaking barriers in a men’s world

is a showcase of exceptional female who are breaking stereotypes to change their own lives and inspire other women and girls around in society.

Captain Siloyiso Moyo graduated as an outstanding student in Ordnance Officers and Captain Sarudzai Monica Makoti also came out as a top student in Workshop Commander’s course.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony, the guest of honour, Brigadier General Quartermaster Staff Sirmo Maseko applauded the four female officers for passing their courses and also encouraged the institution to enroll more women to partake such courses.

“I was told that amongst the graduands, there are four female officers, it is also encouraging to note that some of the

female officers performed even better than some of their male counterparts, an indication that the Zimbabwe Women Services is breaking barriers into the male dominant profession,” said General Maseko.

The graduation ceremony was graced by Deputy Commander 3 Infantry Brigade Colonel V.Vengesai, Director Ordnance Colonel R.Nikisi, Director Army Finance Colonel Mbinya, Director Procurement Lt Colonel M.Ndlovu and Commandant School of Logistics, Lt Colonel Kenedy Tenhedzi.

There were also invited guests who work together with the School of Logistics such as Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe, Zimbabwe Revenue Authority, Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service and many others.
