War vets, revisit pre-coup events!!

Date:

Victor Matemadanda and Christopher Mutsvangwa, the citizens are anxiously waiting for your press conference on war veterans’ position on 2030 agenda.

Veteran Masvingo based opposition leader Jeffreyson Chitando.

The silence on this position is a betrayal of the “operation restore legacy coup” agenda. The reason why people across the political divide joined and supported the coup against Robert Mugabe was his overstay in power and presiding over the country’s economic decay.

“A good leader knows when to leave office. A good leader must groom other leaders to take over. A good leader does great things in a very short time and leave a mark,” Victor Matemadanda said during a press conference to drum up support for the coup to remove Mugabe.

Chris Mutsvangwa had no good words against Mugabe’s overstay. He castigated those who were preaching against the continued stay of Mugabe.

Zanu PF spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa.

Jabulani Sibanda had the famous statement “Power and leadership is not sexually transmitted in the State House bedroom.” He was replying to Grace Mugabe’s statement that Mugabe would rule even in a wheelchair or from the grave.

The War vets were supported for their resonating with the povo. The War vets’ clarity on the issue of Mugabe’s overstay was cheered and praised by citizens.

In 2013 over 99% of citizens voted for the New Constitution which enshrined the maximum two 5 year term Presidential limit. The War vets were equally represented at all stages of the COPAC.

Chris Mutsvangwa (ZanuPF –Warvet Association) ;Jeffryson Chitando (MDCT) and Mr Moyo (MDC N or Green) co- chaired COPAC Thematic Committee on Executive Arms of The State. The Thematic area dealt with security organs of the state namely police, CIO and Army. The question of Presidential Term limits was always central as these organs were to guard against manipulation of the clause.

Jabulani Sibanda.

I remember Chris Mutsvangwa was always clear that a President must not overstay. This is when I understood Chris Mutsvangwa as one person who was for a limited term for President. In 2017 when Chris Mutsvangwa was advocating for removal of Mugabe because he had overstayed I had faith in his words. I now wait to hear if he was honest in his campaign for term limits.

The War vets must always know they represent the people not an individual leader. What benefit is it for the citizens for Mnangagwa to extend his term?

Zimbabwe is not short of leaders. How many presidents have served Namibia compared to Zimbabwe but it got independence well after us? War vets must not remain silent whilst the looters of resources surrounding the President are clamouring for extension of looting term to 2030.
