MASVINGO RURAL-Vice President Kembo Mohadi has heaped praises on NetOne for its tireless efforts in driving digital connectivity across the country.

Speaking at the commissioning of a cutting-edge information, communication technology (ICT) laboratory at Shaganiso Mission Secondary School, in Masvingo province, Vice President Mohadi commended NetOne for aligning its efforts with Zimbabwe’s Vision 2030 agenda, which aims to create a digitally empowered economy.
“This is more than just a laboratory- it is a gateway to knowledge, to innovation and to the future. NetOne has shown real commitment to national development by ensuring that even schools in rural communities like Shaganiso are not left behind in the digital revolution,” he said.

The ICT laboratory equipped with high-speed internet and modern learning tools, was established through NetOne’s Digital Schools Connect Initiative, which aims to equip rural schools with tech infrastructure to boost e-learning. This initiative supports the Government’s drive towards a knowledge-based economy under Vision 2030.
Minister of ICT, Postal and Courier Services, Tatenda Mavetera who was present at the hand-over of 40 laptops to the school also applauded NetOne for its strong public private partnership with the Government, saying such collaborations are crucial for achieving inclusive national development.
“This is a practical example of Vision 2030 in motion, where Government and the private sector come together to deliver real impact. Digital skills are no longer a luxury, they are a necessity for every Zimbabwean child. I commend NetOne for understanding this and acting boldly,” Mavetera weighed in.
NetOne Chief Executive Officer Raphael Mushanawani, was grateful for the recognition and reaffirmed the company’s pledge to make digital connectivity a universal right, not a privilege. He emphasized NetOne’s long-term goal of providing network coverage and digital literacy tools to every school in Zimbabwe by 2030.
The community in Shaganiso was overjoyed, noting that the new facility will enhance academic learning and open up global opportunities for rural youths. The event marked another milestone in Zimbabwe’s push to become a digitally inclusive society, where every citizen has access to the tools and skills needed to thrive in a modern economy.
