GWERU-Vice President Genral Rtd Constantino Chiwenga officially commissioned the Gweru Diocese Pastoral Centre last Saturday.

The centre established in 2017 is poised to play a vital role in nurturing spiritual growth through the provision of training and resources for communities and parishes within the Diocese.
Addressing congregants during the ceremony, VP Chiwenga said the commissioning of the pastoral centre is a milestone achievement that symbolises a renewed commitment to self reliance in the face of diminishing donor support.
“In an era when external donor support is diminishing, this initiative boldly declares that, we are ready to take responsibility for our church’s destiny.

“As the late Pope Francis said,’ The Church in Africa must be the protagonist of her own future.’ That future begins here, and it begins with us.
“Let me reaffirm the government of Zimbabwe’s continued commitment to working in partnership with the church,” he said.
He said the newly commissioned facility is a landmark achievement expected to bring together Catholics in the Gweru Diocese.
“The Pastoral centre we inaugurate today is not merely a structure of bricks and mortar, it is a testament to foresight leadership, and unwavering faith. This transformative project is a reflection of the dreams and dedication of its architect, His Lordship, the Right Reverend Bishop Sekuru Rudolf Nyandoro,” he said.
The newly commissioned facility is designed to serve as a hub for spiritual and administrative activities within the Gweru Diocese.
