Masvingo Community Choir Vox Angelorum is set to compete in the second edition of the IJoyaftaJoy Grand Finale on the 28th of February at the Celebration Centre in Harare.

Representing the Masvingo region and performing on ballot number three, the 50 member choir is aiming to improve on last year’s performance after finishing third in the inaugural competition held in December at Kyle College.
Vox Angelorum Choir was formed in January 2025 and is made up of people from across Masvingo Province.

As a community choir, it brings together members of different age groups including school children.
Speaking ahead of the competition, the visionary and director of Vox Angelorum Choir Alpha Tazviona Tinago said the group is determined to secure first place this year.
“We are a community choir made up of people from around Masvingo, bringing together different age groups including school children. Last year when IJoyaftaJoy was introduced, we came third and won US$1,000. This year, we are aiming for first prize and to bring the top award home,” said Tinago.
Tinago revealed that the contest is sponsored by Econet Wireless Zimbabwe and it offers attractive prizes with the winners set to receive US$10,000, second place US$5,000 and third place US$2,500. Finalists will also receive transport from their respective cities to Harare.

The theme of the competition, IJoyaftaJoy evokes celebration and uplifting choral music in Zimbabwe reflecting the country’s rich cultural heritage and strong community spirit.
Vox Angelorum’s participation embodies this spirit as they take Masvingo’s talent to the national stage.
