Chiredzi – Vision Group, the new majority shareholder of Tongaat Hulett, announced the appointment of Gavin Dalgleish as its Group Chief Executive Officer. The news was shared to the stakeholders by THZ Head of Corporate and Industry Affairs Dr. Dalia Garwe.
Effective 1 April 2025 Dalgleish will take the reins from Rob Aitken, who has been serving as the interim CEO since March 2024. Rob will remain an integral part of the Vision Group leadership team.
Vision Group a conglomerate created to acquire the assets and business of Tongaat Hulett in accordance to the business rescue plan while THZ has full ownership of Triangle limited and 50% of Hippo Valley Estates.
As the new CEO, Dalgleish will lead the stabilization and turnaround of the sugar business, as well as its strategic downstream industries.
Dr. Garwe’s note to stakeholders also expressed appreciation from the Vision Group to the Tongaat leadership team and the 28 000 employees across South Africa, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and Botswana for their unwavering contributions during a challenging period.
Dr. Garwe reassured stakeholders that the announced changes are at the group level and will not affect the day-to-day operations in Zimbabwe.
