MUTARE-Veteran journalist Clayton Masekesa a journalist-turned-musician, is making waves with his debut album ‘Homwe Dzachoboka’, a collection of four soulful tracks that showcase his unique blend of talent and passion.

As the front man of the eight member Eastern Stars Band, Masekesa is proudly representing his roots from Chigodora.
Masekesa’s journey into music began years ago, working as a band manager for Hosiah Chipanga from 1998-2004, followed by a stint as a music promoter. It was during this time that he rubbed shoulders with music greats, an experience that would later shape his own artistic voice.
In 2016, Masekesa took the leap, transitioning into full-time music. His first single, ‘Rudo Haana’ was followed by hits like ‘Simba Rekurarama’ and ‘Kuzipa Kwerudo’. Now with ‘Homwe Dzachoboka’, he is unleashing his creativity to the world.
The album features four tracks; Mari Muhomwe, Network, Havakufariri and Guva Recement, each a testament to Masekesa’s story telling prowess and melodic sensibilities.
“Entertainment reporting played a big part in my journey. I met and mingled with the country’s finest musicians and it inspired me to take to the stage. It has been a long time coming, but I am ready to make my mark,” said Masekesa in a telephone interview.
Homwe Dzachoboka is more than just a debut album- it is a declaration of Masekesa’s calling.
